Olympic gateway project Ferriers Point a 23 storey sixties tower block managed by Newham Homes has recently undergone a major overhaul and has incorporating 4 different products from R.W.Simon’s natural ventilation range. Simon’s Provided: Acoustic Airstrip 19000 Glazed-In Ventilators Airstrip 19000 Glazed-In Ventilators Simon MR 50 “Z” blade Flanged LouvresSimon MR 50 “Z” blade “Glazed-In” Louvres The dwellings were ventilated with Airstrip 19000 and Airstrip 19000 Acoustic Glazed-In units, this enabled the elevations adjacent to the busy A13 Canning Town fly-over dual carriage way to have the same aesthetic look to the rear elevations, whilst fully complying with ventilation rates laid out in approved document “F” 2010 of the building regulations. The MR 50 “Glazed-In” louvres were installed into the balconies whilst the flanged units were incorporated into the cladding system. The refurbishment included the installation of new kitchens, bathrooms and central heating systems. The block has been clad in insulated rainscreen cladding with new triple glazed windows. Approximately 50% of the south facade of The external elevation been made of photovoltaic cells to provide free power to the building’s communal areas.
